Sometimes, dreams do come true.

I finally got to photograph one of my personal favorite bands, A Day to Remember, when they played recently at the Washington Avenue Armory in Albany as part of the Parks & Devastation tour, and this is what I got…

Notes on shooting A Day To Remember:

What.  An.  Absolute.  BLAST.

I felt incredibly lucky to get to shoot this, as trying to get confirmed for ADTR seemed near impossible.  All up until they started playing, I was convinced I wouldn’t be allowed to shoot ADTR from the photo pit.  Sure enough though, I did, and it was awesome.

The lighting was fantastic, the band was fantastic, and it was a ton of fun.  I can easily see why Adam Elmakias joins them on tour – they are absolutely amazing to shoot.

The only negative was that shooting drummer Alex Shelnutt from the pit was rather difficult because of how far back on the stage he was set up.  The shots I did get of him were essentially right at 200mm on my full frame bodies, and I still had to crop in a bit on the shots.

Still, this is probably my favorite shoot to date, and it took me a while to edit it all down (I overshot pretty wildly).  Hope you all enjoy seeing these – I sure enjoyed shooting them.

Equipment:

Nikon D3 w/ 24-70 2.8
Nikon D600 w/ 80-200 2.8
